The Opportunity:

As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to a primary-aged pupil, helping them manage emotions, build positive interactions, and stay engaged with their learning. This role is central to creating a calm, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support class teachers in the day-to-day operations of the classroom
  • Work in partnership with teachers to assist with teaching and learning, including individual and group support
  • Assist with tasks that support the classroom environment and the needs of students
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and school policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of pupil records
  • Participate in school events, assemblies, and staff meetings
  • Supervise playtimes or lunchtimes when required
  • Keep up-to-date with school communications and policies
  • Help organize and maintain resources for the students you support
  • Provide regular updates to the school team on student progress and needs

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience supporting primary-school aged children (ages 5 - 11)
  • Experience working in a school, club, or childcare setting
  • Experience working with children with diverse learning or emotional needs
  • Ability to work as part of a supportive and successful team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil well-being
  • Understanding of school policies and procedures

Preferred

  • Experience providing 1:1 assistance
  • Teaching qualification
  • Demonstrated empathy, kindness, and patience in building relationships with students
  • Strong communication skills with parents and stakeholders
  • Experience with safeguarding and pastoral care
