The Opportunity:

A 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant is needed to support a student with special educational needs in a mainstream setting. This role is ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful impact on a student's learning and development while gaining valuable experience in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the assigned student in mainstream lessons and deliver 1:1 interventions.
  • Assist in managing and supervising behaviour in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Foster social interaction and communication skills among students.
  • Help teachers with lesson preparation and activity planning for the student.
  • Promote the student's independence and overall well-being.
  • Work closely with the Inclusion department and other staff to ensure consistent support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual learning plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of the student's progress and interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support and manage student behaviour effectively.
  • Commitment to inclusion and student welfare.
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development.

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Experience in delivering 1:1 interventions.
  • Knowledge of Speech & Language development.
  • Experience in working within a school setting.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
