The Opportunity:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with complex needs, helping them thrive academically and emotionally. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference and works well in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a student, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and engagement in learning
  • Develop positive therapeutic relationships to support emotional regulation and personal development
  • Implement trauma-informed strategies to support students with SEMH needs and attachment difficulties
  • Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction, and learning skills through structured support
  • Assist teachers in delivering individualised educational programmes and support plans
  • Monitor and record student progress, including EHCPs and IEPs
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student needs
  • Supervise and support students during breaks, lunchtimes, and school activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
  • Experience supporting children or young people with emotional or behavioural needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach when managing challenging situations
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative

Preferred

  • Experience with trauma-informed practices
  • Knowledge of SEMH needs and attachment difficulties
  • Experience with educational support plans such as EHCPs and IEPs
