The Opportunity:
As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering targeted support to students with diverse needs, including those with SEND, EAL, and gifted/talented status. This is a dynamic and impactful role that requires a highly adaptable professional committed to student success across both physical and online learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned learning activities and intervention programmes to small groups or individuals, adapting delivery based on student responses.
- Assess, monitor, and record student development and attainment using appropriate ICT systems.
- Support students with special educational needs and those for whom English is an additional language.
- Provide short-term cover for learning environments and support the implementation of individual development plans.
- Manage resources and invigilate exams effectively.
- Monitor student progress and ensure interventions are impactful and aligned with statutory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents to ensure a supportive and safe learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 3 qualification in working with children and young people.
- Experience working in a school setting or with children/young people.
- Previous experience supporting students in small group or one-to-one situations.
- Proficiency in delivering interventions and using educational ICT packages such as SIMS, o'Cloud, and Praising Stars.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Empathy and the ability to relate to students and identify safeguarding concerns.
Preferred
- Experience with statutory development plans such as EHCPs.
- Flexibility to meet changing business needs.
- Experience in alternative provision or working with students with complex needs.
