The Opportunity:

As an Alternative Pathway Lead KS3/KS4 teacher, you will lead the design and delivery of a bespoke, adaptive curriculum for students with SEMH and complex behavioural needs. This role is pivotal in supporting learners to re-engage with education and achieve meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Alternative Pathway provision.
  • Deliver high-quality, personalised teaching to students with SEMH and complex needs.
  • Champion trauma-informed and restorative practices to support emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with families, staff, and external agencies to remove barriers to learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress, behaviour, and engagement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve outcomes and life chances for vulnerable learners.
  • Work closely with the inclusion team to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment.
  • Adapt curriculum content to meet the diverse needs of learners.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching in a PRU, SEMH setting, or alternative provision.
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and SEMH strategies.
  • Experience working with students who have complex behavioural needs and SEMH.
  • Skilled in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable learners.
  • Experience in curriculum adaptation and personalised learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a team or provision.
  • Experience in developing and evaluating educational programmes.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support strategies.
  • Familiarity with alternative provision frameworks and policies.
