Alternative Provision Manager needed to lead and deliver impactful student support programs.

The Opportunity:

As an Alternative Provision Manager, you will lead and deliver innovative student support programs that include co-curricular activities such as horticulture, outdoor learning, and employability skills. This role is central to ensuring students thrive academically and behaviourally, while fostering positive relationships with families and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver internal alternative provision programs to support student learning and development.
  • Plan and prepare resources to meet individual student needs, including co-curricular activities.
  • Promote independent learning and raise student self-esteem and confidence.
  • Liaise with academic progress leaders, pastoral teams, and external agencies to support student development.
  • Work with the Assistant Headteacher to support students in returning to mainstream learning.
  • Develop positive relationships with local community stakeholders to enhance student progression.
  • Facilitate the achievement of school and Trust objectives related to student behavior and attendance.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns in accordance with school policy.
  • Record behavioral events accurately on the school’s management information system.
  • Support staff in implementing effective behavior management strategies.
  • Engage with families to support student involvement in the tutor program.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in managing alternative provision programs within an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to develop and deliver co-curricular and alternative curriculum content.
  • Experience in promoting positive behavior and student engagement.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students with complex needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Background in outdoor learning, horticulture, or community-based education initiatives.
  • Experience in supporting students with behavioral difficulties and attendance issues.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
