The Opportunity:

As an Apprentice Groundsperson, you will play a vital role in maintaining the school's outdoor spaces and facilities. This is a full-time, year-round position that offers hands-on experience in grounds maintenance and the opportunity to develop skills in a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and upkeep the school's outdoor areas, including playing fields, gardens, and recreational spaces.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks, such as mowing, trimming, and landscaping.
  • Ensure all grounds are safe, clean, and in line with the school's standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to support events and activities on campus.
  • Follow health and safety protocols at all times.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work and report any issues promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation of the grounds for seasonal events and school functions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A strong work ethic and a dependable, professional attitude.
  • Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance or a related field.
  • Knowledge of gardening, landscaping, or sports facility maintenance.
  • Experience with the use of grounds maintenance equipment.
  • A relevant qualification or apprenticeship in horticulture or grounds management.
