The Opportunity:
As an Apprentice Groundsperson, you will play a vital role in maintaining the school's outdoor spaces and facilities. This is a full-time, year-round position that offers hands-on experience in grounds maintenance and the opportunity to develop skills in a supportive and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and upkeep the school's outdoor areas, including playing fields, gardens, and recreational spaces.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks, such as mowing, trimming, and landscaping.
- Ensure all grounds are safe, clean, and in line with the school's standards.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to support events and activities on campus.
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work and report any issues promptly.
- Assist in the preparation of the grounds for seasonal events and school functions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A strong work ethic and a dependable, professional attitude.
- Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance or willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks.
Preferred
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or a related field.
- Knowledge of gardening, landscaping, or sports facility maintenance.
- Experience with the use of grounds maintenance equipment.
- A relevant qualification or apprenticeship in horticulture or grounds management.
