The Opportunity:

As an Architecture Teacher - Summer School, you will play a pivotal role in launching a new course and shaping the future of young architects. You will deliver engaging lessons and hands-on workshops, helping students explore design principles, model-making, and portfolio development in a collaborative and creative setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver interactive and well-structured lessons in architectural design principles, model-making, and portfolio development.
  • Design and lead innovative workshops that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and visual communication.
  • Guide students through practical project work, supporting them in developing ideas from concept to final presentation.
  • Provide students with insights into architecture pathways, including university options and portfolio expectations.
  • Offer personalised feedback to students throughout the course and write end-of-programme reports.
  • Ensure punctuality, lesson preparedness, and smooth delivery of each session.
  • Maintain excellent behaviour management and safeguard the well-being of all students.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students to foster a friendly and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree-level education in Architecture or a related field.
  • Experience teaching architecture, design fundamentals, or portfolio development at A-level, foundation, or undergraduate level.
  • Confidence in teaching practical skills such as sketching, model-making, and portfolio presentation.
  • Experience working with teenagers and/or international students.
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and genuinely passionate about architecture and education.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a summer school, holiday programme, or enrichment context.
  • Experience advising students on UK architecture pathways, including university admissions and portfolio expectations.
  • A teaching qualification such as PGCE or equivalent.
  • Industry or studio experience in architecture, design, or related creative sectors.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of £48, with opportunity to teach up to 40 hours.
