The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Art and Design Teacher to join our team and make a meaningful impact on students' learning and development. This role is central to delivering a high-quality curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils and supports their academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality Art and Design & Food Technology lessons that meet curriculum requirements and promote student achievement.
- Support and develop the teaching practice of colleagues to ensure consistently good quality teaching.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages student engagement and progress.
- Plan and prepare lessons that reflect the National Curriculum and ensure effective breadth and balance.
- Ensure all statutory and external requirements are met in line with Ofsted and DfE guidelines.
- Identify clear learning objectives and outcomes, with appropriate challenge and high expectations for all students.
- Manage groups and individual pupils, ensuring differentiation and support for all learning needs.
- Use ICT effectively to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status and degree-level qualification in Art, Design, and Food Technology or equivalent post-degree conversion course.
- Proven ability to help pupils achieve high standards through effective teaching and learning.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks under pressure.
- High level of self-awareness and the ability to work with diverse personalities and challenging situations.
- Excellent ICT skills to support teaching and learning.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching Art and Design & Food Technology in a special education setting.
- Experience with vocational qualifications and enrichment programmes.
- Background in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).
