The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Art and Design Teacher to join our team and make a meaningful impact on students' learning and development. This role is central to delivering a high-quality curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils and supports their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Art and Design & Food Technology lessons that meet curriculum requirements and promote student achievement.
  • Support and develop the teaching practice of colleagues to ensure consistently good quality teaching.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages student engagement and progress.
  • Plan and prepare lessons that reflect the National Curriculum and ensure effective breadth and balance.
  • Ensure all statutory and external requirements are met in line with Ofsted and DfE guidelines.
  • Identify clear learning objectives and outcomes, with appropriate challenge and high expectations for all students.
  • Manage groups and individual pupils, ensuring differentiation and support for all learning needs.
  • Use ICT effectively to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status and degree-level qualification in Art, Design, and Food Technology or equivalent post-degree conversion course.
  • Proven ability to help pupils achieve high standards through effective teaching and learning.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • High level of self-awareness and the ability to work with diverse personalities and challenging situations.
  • Excellent ICT skills to support teaching and learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Art and Design & Food Technology in a special education setting.
  • Experience with vocational qualifications and enrichment programmes.
  • Background in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).
