The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Art and Design Technology Technician to join a dynamic team and support students in developing their creative and technical skills. This role is ideal for someone passionate about art and design, and who wants to make a meaningful impact in a supportive educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and supply art and design materials, including canvases, paints, clays, and screen-printing equipment for classes and exhibitions.
- Maintain the safe and functional condition of art and design equipment, such as cameras, sewing machines, and pottery wheels.
- Manage the storage and organization of art materials and equipment, ensuring proper inventory control.
- Assist in the creation of art displays, including setting up exhibitions and managing the flow of art materials.
- Provide technical support to students during lessons, demonstrations, and practical activities.
- Handle administrative tasks, including ordering supplies and managing the department budget.
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for staff and students, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Assist in other classes in a teaching assistant capacity when required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as an art technician or teaching assistant within a school environment.
- Strong subject knowledge in art and design.
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) and Child Protection Training.
Preferred
- Experience with managing art and design equipment and materials.
- Familiarity with digital tools and software used in art and design.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £20,800 - £23,000 (dependent on experience).
- Term-time only working hours (39 weeks including 5 inset days).
