The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals that meet the diverse needs of students, staff, and visitors. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment and contribute to a first-class catering experience across multiple school locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve fresh, nutritious, and imaginative meals in line with the school’s standards and budget.
  • Support catering operations across the Prep School, Senior School, and boarding houses.
  • Assist with the preparation of meals for outdoor events, functions, and hospitality occasions.
  • Uphold high standards of food safety, presentation, and quality in all aspects of food service.
  • Work collaboratively with the catering team to ensure efficient and effective service.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and contribute to the smooth running of the catering department.
  • Be available to work flexible hours, including during term time and additional Enterprise hours outside of term.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends when required.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of catering for a range of dietary requirements.
  • Experience with event catering or special occasion menus.
  • Basic culinary training or relevant qualifications.
