The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Assistant Chef to join our Hospitality Catering team and contribute to providing high-quality, nutritious meals that meet the needs of students, staff, and visitors. This role requires flexibility and a passion for delivering exceptional food service across multiple areas of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals in line with the school's dietary standards and budget.
  • Work closely with the Hospitality Chef to ensure seamless kitchen operations and service.
  • Support catering operations across the school, including boarding houses and outdoor events.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other catering team members to deliver consistent and exceptional food service.
  • Manage inventory and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Assist with special events and catering requirements as needed.
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure the highest standards of food preparation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Strong cooking and food preparation skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work under pressure.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or hospitality catering setting.
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements and special diets.
  • Experience with menu planning and cost control.
  • Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and software.
