The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Assistant Chef to join our catering team and help deliver a first-class dining experience. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment. The Assistant Chef will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals across a range of catering operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve fresh, nutritious, and imaginative meals for pupils, staff, and visitors
  • Support catering operations across the Prep School, Senior School, and boarding houses
  • Assist with food preparation for outdoor events, functions, and hospitality occasions
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, presentation, and quality
  • Work efficiently within budget guidelines and support the team in achieving operational goals
  • Collaborate with the Chef Manager and other team members to ensure smooth service
  • Ensure all kitchen areas are clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
  • Adapt to a flexible working schedule, including evenings and weekends as required

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a chef or kitchen assistant role
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality service and maintaining a clean, organized workspace

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or catering environment
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during school events
  • Knowledge of special dietary requirements and menu planning
  • Experience with large-scale food preparation and event catering
