The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Assistant Chef to join our catering team and help deliver a first-class dining experience. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment. The Assistant Chef will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals across a range of catering operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve fresh, nutritious, and imaginative meals for pupils, staff, and visitors
- Support catering operations across the Prep School, Senior School, and boarding houses
- Assist with food preparation for outdoor events, functions, and hospitality occasions
- Maintain high standards of food safety, presentation, and quality
- Work efficiently within budget guidelines and support the team in achieving operational goals
- Collaborate with the Chef Manager and other team members to ensure smooth service
- Ensure all kitchen areas are clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
- Adapt to a flexible working schedule, including evenings and weekends as required
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a chef or kitchen assistant role
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, safety, and hygiene standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality service and maintaining a clean, organized workspace
Preferred
- Experience in a school or catering environment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during school events
- Knowledge of special dietary requirements and menu planning
- Experience with large-scale food preparation and event catering
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate of £14.42
