Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to drive whole-school priorities, including literacy and oracy.
- Contribute to the School Evaluation Framework and Development Plan to support continuous improvement.
- Support and mentor teachers to enhance professional practice and student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance to ensure consistent progress and achievement.
- Promote a culture of ambition and high expectations across the school.
- Work with colleagues to implement innovative teaching strategies and resources.
- Ensure the English curriculum is engaging, challenging, and meets the needs of all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a secondary school.
- Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for teaching and learning.
- Experience in leading and managing a department with a focus on improving student outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and coaching.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and strategic planning.
- Familiarity with the Dynamic Learning Community (DLC) model.
- Experience in school evaluation and improvement planning.
- Knowledge of literacy and oracy initiatives.
- Experience in supporting staff development and leadership coaching.
