The Opportunity:

As Assistant Head of Pastoral Care and Administration, you will play a strategic role in shaping a school culture centered on wellbeing, safety, and inclusion. This is a leadership position that combines vision with practical impact, ensuring robust systems and high standards of care across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a whole-school pastoral strategy focused on wellbeing, resilience, and positive relationships.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (or Deputy DSL), ensuring rigorous safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Oversee behaviour and attendance systems, using data to implement targeted interventions and improve student engagement.
  • Provide strategic oversight of SEND provision in partnership with the SENCo to ensure inclusive, high-quality support.
  • Ensure robust systems for IEPs, safeguarding records, pastoral plans, and multi-agency liaison.
  • Coach and develop Heads of Year, tutors, and pastoral staff to maintain consistently high standards of care.
  • Oversee key administrative systems linked to safeguarding, admissions, and operational professionalism.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, governors, and external professionals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in pastoral leadership, behaviour management, and safeguarding at a senior level.
  • A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive school provision.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and substantial teaching experience.
  • Ability to analyse data, strengthen systems, and drive measurable improvement.
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
