Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the delivery of high-quality science teaching across Key Stages.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and improve the science curriculum, with a focus on practical work and STEM pathways.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and support the professional development of the science department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring measurable outcomes and high attainment for all students.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, consistency, and high standards in teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the broader strategic goals of the school and the Northern Schools Trust.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in science education (biology, chemistry, or physics).
  • Proven track record of delivering high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire curiosity and practical skills in students.
  • Experience in curriculum design and development.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or supporting a science department.
  • Familiarity with the Northern Schools Trust and its professional development network.
  • Experience in STEM pathways or extracurricular science activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
