The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Head of Year, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic and personal development of students. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support student behaviour, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Develop and implement effective pastoral care strategies that promote student wellbeing and resilience
  • Foster strong relationships with parents and guardians through open and effective communication
  • Assist in the leadership and development of the year group, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team
  • Promote a culture of high expectations and academic excellence across all subjects
  • Support the implementation of behaviour policies and school-wide initiatives
  • Contribute to the ongoing professional development of staff and students
  • Ensure consistent and high-quality pastoral support for all students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or leadership role within an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or senior pastoral role
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and policies
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational organisation
  • A passion for student development and a commitment to social mobility
  • Experience in supporting students from diverse backgrounds
