The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Head of Year, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Year and senior leadership in driving student progress, behaviour and learning. This is a chance to make a real impact on student outcomes and contribute to a positive, supportive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Year and senior leadership in managing student behaviour and pastoral care.
  • Work closely with students, parents, support staff and external agencies to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Implement and monitor the school’s safeguarding, behaviour and anti-bullying policies.
  • Promote emotional literacy and support students in self-regulating their behaviour.
  • Collaborate with other schools and external organisations to improve student outcomes.
  • Provide encouragement and pastoral support to students across the academy.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training and professional development for staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and behaviour.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office IT programmes.
  • A calm, patient and approachable manner.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work.

Preferred

  • Experience in Emotional Literacy Support (ELSA).
  • Previous experience in a school setting.
