The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Head Teacher - Pastoral Care, you will play a vital role in ensuring the emotional, social, and academic well-being of students. This position involves leading safeguarding initiatives, fostering a positive school culture, and supporting students with diverse needs. It is a leadership role that requires a strong commitment to student welfare and school policy development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain behavior systems to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Act as the primary point person for safeguarding and child protection, ensuring robust systems and incident investigations.
  • Create and implement a school-wide well-being strategy to support student mental health and belonging.
  • Oversee the identification and support of students with diverse learning and pastoral needs.
  • Train and equip staff to effectively implement pastoral care strategies across the school.
  • Work as part of the executive team to develop and maintain school policies aligned with best practices.
  • Manage and analyze key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral care initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of leadership experience in a school setting
  • Experience working with data management systems
  • Safeguarding in schools trained
  • Working knowledge of Data Protection regulations
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and professionals

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing student well-being programs
  • Leadership experience in a large, diverse educational institution
  • Familiarity with British curriculum and international education standards
  • Experience with student support frameworks and individual education plans (IEPs)
