The Opportunity:

As Assistant Head Teacher SENDCO, you will lead the development of SEND provision, including the establishment of a new Resource Base. This is a unique opportunity to shape inclusive practice, support children with special educational needs and disabilities, and drive positive outcomes in a dynamic and supportive school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the development of the school’s SEND provision, including the new Resource Base.
  • Collaborate with the Trust’s experienced SEND team to establish and manage the Resource Base.
  • Support the appointment and management of staff within the Resource Base.
  • Ensure all pupils with special educational needs and disabilities receive high-quality, inclusive education.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support individual learning needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and ensure all students feel safe, confident, and successful.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the school’s inclusion policies and practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in SEND provision.
  • Experience in a leadership or management role within education.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory requirements for SEND provision.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in setting up or managing a Resource Base.
  • Experience with autism-specific provision.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust.
  • Experience in curriculum development for students with special educational needs.
