The Opportunity:
As the Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students while also overseeing the school’s behaviour policies. This is an opportunity to lead in a vital area of school life and take on a senior leadership role with a strong impact on student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of student welfare.
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, providing guidance and support to staff, students, and external agencies.
- Develop and implement effective behaviour policies that promote a positive and inclusive school culture.
- Work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to support the strategic direction of the school.
- Provide pastoral support to students and staff, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding and behaviour initiatives.
- Liaise with external agencies, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure the well-being of students.
- Ensure all safeguarding training and procedures are up to date and consistently applied across the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in a school leadership role.
- Experience in safeguarding and child protection, including knowledge of statutory requirements.
- Strong pastoral and behaviour management skills with a proven track record in supporting student welfare.
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a Designated Safeguarding Lead role.
- Knowledge of the national curriculum and school improvement strategies.
- Experience of working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational structure.
- Experience in leading and managing teams effectively.
