As an Assistant Headteacher Open Portfolio, you will take on a key leadership role within a forward-thinking academy. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a specific area of responsibility, aligned with your strengths and the school’s strategic goals.
  • Support the Headteacher in driving the school’s vision and mission, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement effective school-wide or departmental strategies that improve student achievement and staff performance.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance the learning experience for all students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives, ensuring they meet the school’s objectives and contribute to overall success.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider community to support student engagement and achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and practices that reflect the school’s values and vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a middle leader within a secondary school.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement successful school-wide or departmental strategies.
  • Strong track record of classroom excellence and student achievement.
  • Experience in managing and developing staff effectively.
  • Commitment to improving educational outcomes and life chances for all students.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within a multi-academy trust or similar organization.
  • Background in science education or a related specialism.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
