The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral), you will play a key role in leading initiatives related to whole school attendance, alternative provision, and safeguarding vulnerable learners. You will also oversee the pastoral needs of a year group and ensure effective support for students receiving Pupil Premium funding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage whole school attendance strategies to improve student engagement and outcomes.
- Oversee the development and implementation of alternative provision for students requiring additional support.
- Ensure robust safeguarding practices are in place for vulnerable learners and maintain high standards of care.
- Provide pastoral leadership and support for a year group, ensuring their academic and personal well-being.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to drive improvements in student outcomes and school performance.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of pastoral interventions and report progress regularly.
- Work closely with colleagues across the school and trust to ensure consistency and best practice in student support.
- Promote a positive school culture that supports the emotional and social development of all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, ideally in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of pastoral care, safeguarding, and student welfare practices.
- Experience in managing and leading attendance and alternative provision strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex issues and deliver results in a high-pressure environment.
Preferred
- Experience working in a multi-academy trust or similar educational partnership.
- Familiarity with Pupil Premium funding and strategies to support disadvantaged students.
- Leadership experience in a school with a focus on boys' education.
- Experience in driving school improvement and leading whole-school initiatives.
