The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate leader to join a high-performing school and lead the Post 16 Education and Welfare team. The role involves shaping the strategic direction of the sixth form while also delivering high-quality teaching up to A-level standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Post 16 Education and Welfare team, ensuring a supportive and inspiring learning environment for students.
- Work closely with pastoral and support staff to promote student well-being and academic success.
- Line manage key departments and contribute to the strategic leadership of the school.
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning up to A-level standard, maintaining the school’s high academic standards.
- Support the headteacher and senior leadership team in the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives.
- Ensure the sixth form remains a vibrant, inclusive, and academically successful part of the school.
- Promote the school’s values and vision through effective leadership and engagement with students and staff.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the sixth form, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting, ideally at senior management level.
- Experience in leading and managing a Post 16 team, with a strong understanding of student welfare and academic support.
- Strong classroom teaching experience, including the ability to teach up to A-level standard.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- A relevant teaching qualification and leadership experience, such as NPQH or equivalent.
Preferred
- Experience in a selective or grammar school environment.
- Experience in curriculum development and strategic planning.
- Experience with pastoral care and student welfare initiatives.
- Familiarity with data analysis and performance monitoring in education.
