The Opportunity: We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher - SENCO to lead the strategic development of the school’s SEN policy and ensure all students receive the best possible curriculum, provision, and support. This is a key leadership role with a strong impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of the school’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy to raise student attainment and achievement.
  • Ensure the best possible curriculum offer, provision, well-being, progress, and achievement for all pupils.
  • Teach in accordance with the school’s schemes of work and National Curriculum.
  • Model and promote good teaching and learning practices.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the School Development Plan.
  • Monitor student progress and targets to ensure planned outcomes are achieved.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience working with pupils with Autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviours.
  • Experience in managing staff and leading teams.
  • Good knowledge of people management and leadership practices.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).
  • Familiarity with the Equals Semi-Formal Curriculum.
  • Experience in a specialist ASD setting.
