The Opportunity: We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher - SENCO to lead the strategic development of the school’s SEN policy and ensure all students receive the best possible curriculum, provision, and support. This is a key leadership role with a strong impact on student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of the school’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy to raise student attainment and achievement.
- Ensure the best possible curriculum offer, provision, well-being, progress, and achievement for all pupils.
- Teach in accordance with the school’s schemes of work and National Curriculum.
- Model and promote good teaching and learning practices.
- Contribute to the implementation of the School Development Plan.
- Monitor student progress and targets to ensure planned outcomes are achieved.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience working with pupils with Autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviours.
- Experience in managing staff and leading teams.
- Good knowledge of people management and leadership practices.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).
- Familiarity with the Equals Semi-Formal Curriculum.
- Experience in a specialist ASD setting.
