The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Housemistress, you will play a key role in supporting the pastoral care, wellbeing, and health of students in Knatchbull and Loveday Houses. This is a vital position that contributes directly to the positive development and happiness of students in Years 11 and Sixth Form.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Housemistress and Health Care professional in the pastoral care of students
  • Assist with the supervision of boarders during breakfast and supper on a rota basis
  • Be available for INSET days and periods 48 hours prior to and at the end of terms
  • Work closely with the Deputy Head (Pastoral) on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for all students
  • Contribute to the school's mission of fostering confidence, independence, and academic curiosity
  • Attend weekend and holiday duties as required during term time
  • Promote the school's values and ethos through daily interactions with students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral or residential care role, ideally within an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and personal development
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • A proactive and caring approach to student support
  • A valid UK driving licence

Preferred

  • Experience working with young people in a boarding or residential environment
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Experience in a school or college setting
  • Familiarity with educational trust structures and governance
