The Opportunity:
As the Assistant Principal - English and Literacy, you will lead and inspire the English department and support whole-school literacy initiatives. You will be a key leader in driving academic outcomes and fostering a culture of excellence across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the English department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve literacy across the school.
- Coordinate reading interventions and support programs such as Thinking Reading and Fresh Start.
- Provide leadership and guidance to teachers and support staff.
- Monitor and address areas of concern to ensure consistent standards in teaching and learning.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of the curriculum to support student progression.
- Promote a scholarly and inclusive school culture that supports all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a department and delivering excellent outcomes in English.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Knowledge of effective pedagogy and curriculum design.
- Experience in implementing literacy programs and interventions.
- Commitment to raising standards and improving student attainment.
Preferred
- Experience with evidence-based teaching approaches such as Rosenshine and Teach Like A Champion (TLAC).
- Background in knowledge-rich curriculum development.
- Experience in school improvement and leadership within a rapidly improving institution.
- Familiarity with whole-school literacy initiatives and reading interventions.
