The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Principal, you will be a key leader within a highly effective Senior Leadership Team, playing a vital role in driving the school’s mission to transform the lives of young people through academic excellence and outstanding support. You will lead a strategic portfolio, ensuring students remain at the heart of all initiatives and helping the school remain the first-choice provider for young people in the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a strategic portfolio of responsibilities within the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensure student success remains central to all decision-making and operational strategies.
  • Support the delivery of academic excellence and outstanding pastoral care across the college.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement policies and initiatives that align with the college’s mission and values.
  • Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to enhance the college’s reputation and impact.
  • Oversee the professional development of staff and support the growth of the teaching community.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of key initiatives and provide regular reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, preferably in a sixth form or college setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Excellent knowledge of curriculum development, student achievement, and pastoral care.
  • Experience in driving strategic initiatives and leading teams to achieve high standards.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational partnership.
  • Familiarity with research-informed teaching practices and professional development opportunities.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to the development of teacher training and CPD programmes.
  • Strong track record in improving student outcomes and progression rates.
  • Experience with digital education and the use of technology in teaching and learning.
