The Opportunity:
As Assistant Principal for Inclusion, you will lead a strategic and impactful role in driving SEND and inclusion across the school. This is a key leadership position that shapes policy, supports students, and ensures that all learners can thrive. The role offers the chance to influence whole-school practice and make a lasting difference to student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the school’s SEND and inclusion strategy, ensuring it is evidence-based and aligned with best practice.
- Provide strategic leadership to the SEND department, including managing the Deputy SENDCo, Inclusion Administrator, and Learning Support Assistants.
- Work closely with senior leaders, governors, staff, families, and external agencies to improve outcomes for students with SEND.
- Shape and implement inclusive practices across the curriculum, teaching, and pastoral support systems.
- Develop staff expertise in SEND and inclusion through training, support, and professional development.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and interventions to ensure they meet student needs.
- Ensure that the school’s inclusion strategy is responsive, evaluative, and continuously improved.
- Promote a culture of high expectations, resilience, and ambition for all students, particularly those with SEND.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a SENDCo with a strong track record in improving outcomes for students with SEND.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence at senior level.
- Strong knowledge of SEND policy, legislation, and best practice.
- Experience in developing and implementing inclusion strategies.
- Commitment to values-driven leadership, reflective practice, and continuous improvement.
Preferred
- Experience in working with external agencies and supporting families of students with SEND.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment systems.
- Experience in leading and developing staff in SEND and inclusion.
- Experience with pastoral support systems and behaviour management.
- Experience in a school or academy setting, particularly within a multi-academy trust.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £65,000-£70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
