The Opportunity:

As Assistant Principal for Personal Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s character, culture, and student ambition. This is a leadership role that drives the personal development agenda and ensures that every student is equipped with the skills and confidence needed for the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the personal development curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school’s vision and values.
  • Manage and support a team of staff, providing leadership and guidance to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to implement strategies that enhance student well-being and personal growth.
  • Oversee the pastoral care system, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of personal development initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development among staff, ensuring they are equipped to deliver exceptional outcomes for students.
  • Work closely with external partners and stakeholders to enhance the school’s personal development offer.
  • Ensure that all systems and processes related to personal development are efficient, effective, and aligned with best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Proven success as a senior or middle leader with a significant impact in their current role
  • Experience of line managing multiple staff
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design and implementation
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Preferred

  • Experience with coaching and professional development frameworks
  • Familiarity with Steplab or similar coaching platforms
  • Experience in pastoral care and student support
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive improvement
