The Opportunity:
As an Athlete Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting elite student athletes in achieving academic and sporting success. This position involves helping students manage their time effectively, ensuring they thrive in both their studies and athletic pursuits. Your impact will be felt through personalized guidance and collaboration with teachers and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and mentor a number of athletes, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate guidance.
- Help students balance their sporting commitments with their academic workload.
- Meet with each mentee individually on a weekly basis for 30 minutes.
- Oversee student progress across all subjects, pastoral well-being, and future planning.
- Provide regular feedback to parents and liaise with teachers and senior staff on student needs.
- Identify and implement interventions to support student development and well-being.
- Encourage the development of character strengths that support lifelong success.
- Ensure consistent communication and support across all areas of student life.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a secondary school environment.
- Proven experience in supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and mental health.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience in mentoring or coaching young athletes.
- Familiarity with online education platforms and remote working.
- Experience with pastoral care and student well-being support.
- Experience with child protection and safeguarding procedures.
