The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Attendance Assistant to support the school in improving attendance rates for students in Years 7 to 11. This role plays a vital part in ensuring students are present and engaged in their learning. The ideal candidate will be passionate about attendance and committed to working closely with students, parents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance records for students in Years 7 to 11.
  • Support the Attendance Officer in implementing strategies to improve attendance levels.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding attendance concerns.
  • Use IT systems effectively to share attendance information across the school.
  • Build strong relationships with students and their families to encourage regular attendance.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team to support students who are absent or at risk of non-attendance.
  • Monitor and report on attendance trends and patterns.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of attendance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a school or educational setting, preferably in a pastoral or administrative role.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Proficient in using IT systems, particularly those used in school administration.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of school attendance procedures and policies.

Preferred

  • Experience in attendance management or student support roles.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational organization.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.
