The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Manager, you will play a vital role in improving student attendance across the school. This fixed-term position offers the opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes and support the school’s mission of ensuring every student reaches their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the first day calling process for all students.
  • Manage academy registers accurately and ensure timely communication systems for attendance.
  • Analyze attendance trends and implement strategies to improve overall attendance rates.
  • Support the Attendance Team in delivering targeted interventions for students at risk of absence.
  • Liaise with external partners, such as the Education Welfare Officer (EWO), to address attendance concerns.
  • Act as the academy liaison for students attending Alternative Provision and support their reintegration.
  • Provide regular updates to staff on attendance targets and strategies for improvement.
  • Administer leave of absence requests and challenge reasons for absence in line with academy policy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in managing student attendance and absence data.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with attendance management systems and data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of child protection, health and safety, and data protection policies.
  • Experience in liaising with external agencies and parents/carers.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students with additional needs (SEND, PP, CIC).
  • Knowledge of early help and family support strategies.
  • Experience in implementing reward systems related to attendance.
  • Familiarity with school improvement and inclusion strategies.
  • Experience in training and supporting staff on attendance and registration procedures.
