The Opportunity:
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who cannot attend school through home teaching. You will ensure regular attendance at lessons, build strong relationships with families, and help reduce barriers to learning. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure consistent attendance at in-person and online lessons for pupils receiving home teaching.
- Support the Centre Leader in planning and scheduling lessons effectively.
- Conduct home visits to support families and complete necessary risk assessments.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and staff to promote engagement and learning.
- Monitor and track pupil attendance and participation in lessons using IT systems.
- Collaborate with other professionals to identify and address barriers to learning.
- Maintain accurate records and report regularly on attendance and engagement.
- Provide support to pupils and families in preparing for home teaching sessions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with families, children, and professionals.
- Experience in attendance management, safeguarding, or family support work.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills for managing lesson schedules and tutor deployment.
- Proficient in using IT systems for tracking attendance and managing data.
- A commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience working with children with complex medical needs or those who have been out of education for a long period.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices.
- Experience in a fast-paced, people-focused environment.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and adapt to changing priorities.
