The Opportunity:
As an Attendance Registrar, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate attendance records and supporting the school’s pupil support initiatives. This position ensures that students’ attendance and punctuality are effectively monitored and that communication with parents is maintained regarding absences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the SIMS Attendance module and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Communicate with parents regarding authorised and unauthorised absence.
- Prepare attendance reports for pastoral teams as required.
- Monitor absence patterns and support attendance intervention strategies.
- Manage SIMS Divert text messages and alert relevant staff as needed.
- Support administrative tasks related to unauthorised absence and extended holiday reports.
- Monitor the Inventry signing-in system and update records in SIMS.
- Enter internal and external exclusion information on SIMS.
- Send reminders to teaching staff who fail to complete attendance registers.
- Assist the Registrar with Sixth Form admissions and New Year 7 intake.
- Provide training and support to the Receptionist when required.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and complete relevant training.
- Intervene with priority groups showing attendance concerns.
- Ensure compliance with DfE guidelines in attendance coding.
- Assist with answering telephone calls in the main office.
- Provide ad hoc administrative support as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in managing attendance systems such as SIMS.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with parents and staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of school operations and attendance procedures.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of attendance intervention strategies.
- Experience with data entry and report generation.
- Familiarity with school management systems.
- Experience with telephone and customer service support.
