Summary:

Behaviour Support Officer needed to support student behaviour and pastoral care at a school.

The Opportunity:

As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ behaviour and emotional well-being, helping to create a positive learning environment. This is a key role in ensuring students are supported to achieve their full potential, aligned with the school’s values of Respect, Excellence, and Determination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students’ emotional and social needs by modelling and encouraging positive behaviour
  • Respond to on-call situations, including assisting students back to class or to the Subject Removal Room
  • Assist with the pastoral care of students, including those who are unwell, distressed, or injured
  • Supervise students during social times and manage detentions for those who display antisocial behaviour
  • Liaise with parents and staff regarding student behaviour, attendance, and pastoral concerns
  • Maintain a visible presence across the school and support students in regulating their emotions and behaviour during lessons
  • Coordinate and manage student behaviour in line with the school’s policies and expectations

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to the school’s values of Respect, Excellence, and Determination
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of behaviour management and pastoral care principles

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students with diverse needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Experience in delivering CPD or professional development
  • Familiarity with behaviour support frameworks and systems
