The Opportunity:

As a Biology Teacher, you will play a key role in inspiring students and delivering engaging lessons that challenge and motivate learners across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic Science department that is focused on excellence and continuous improvement in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured Biology lessons that motivate and challenge students of all abilities.
  • Plan and implement a stimulating curriculum aligned with national standards and promoting deep understanding of biological concepts.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources, including practical work and ICT, to support learning.
  • Assess student progress effectively and provide timely feedback to maximise attainment.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and inclusive schemes of work and departmental resources.
  • Promote a love of Biology and encourage students to explore the subject beyond the classroom.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school initiatives that support the school’s vision for excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement, creating a positive and safe learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a good honours degree in Biology or a closely related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a track record of securing excellent student outcomes.
  • Effective planning, assessment, and differentiation skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Experience with using ICT and real-world applications in teaching Biology.
  • Experience with curriculum development and resource creation.
