The Opportunity:
As a Biology Teacher, you will play a key role in inspiring students and delivering engaging lessons that challenge and motivate learners across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic Science department that is focused on excellence and continuous improvement in education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and well-structured Biology lessons that motivate and challenge students of all abilities.
- Plan and implement a stimulating curriculum aligned with national standards and promoting deep understanding of biological concepts.
- Use a range of teaching strategies and resources, including practical work and ICT, to support learning.
- Assess student progress effectively and provide timely feedback to maximise attainment.
- Contribute to the development of innovative and inclusive schemes of work and departmental resources.
- Promote a love of Biology and encourage students to explore the subject beyond the classroom.
- Participate in departmental and whole-school initiatives that support the school’s vision for excellence in teaching and learning.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement, creating a positive and safe learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a good honours degree in Biology or a closely related subject.
- Strong subject knowledge and a track record of securing excellent student outcomes.
- Effective planning, assessment, and differentiation skills.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience with teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Experience with using ICT and real-world applications in teaching Biology.
- Experience with curriculum development and resource creation.
