The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Biology Teacher to join its dedicated Science Faculty. This role offers the opportunity to inspire and educate the most able Sixth Form students, support them in applying to top universities, and contribute to a department known for its outstanding academic results and innovative teaching methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Biology to students across Years 7 to 13, with a focus on the Edexcel IGCSE and Cambridge International A Level courses.
- Deliver high-quality lessons using departmental resources while incorporating personal interests and expertise in biology.
- Support students in achieving top grades, with a strong record of success in IGCSE and A Level examinations.
- Supervise extended projects and assist students in applying to leading universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
- Participate in departmental activities, including public lectures, academic societies, and the annual Biology Olympiad Competition.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Science Faculty to enhance teaching and learning across the school.
- Provide guidance and support to students in university applications and career planning.
- Maintain and develop laboratory resources and equipment with the support of full-time technicians.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A degree in Biology or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to teach Biology at a high academic level to Sixth Form students.
- Commitment to supporting students in university applications and academic success.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Willingness to engage in continued professional development and potentially gain Qualified Teaching Status.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching at an independent or academically selective school.
- Experience with IGCSE and A Level Biology courses.
- Familiarity with university application processes and support for students.
- Interest in experimental science and extracurricular academic societies.
