The Opportunity:
As a Biology Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic and personal development of students. This position offers an opportunity to teach across all age ranges and contribute to a dynamic and successful department that prepares students for top-tier universities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach the Edexcel IGCSE and A-level Biology curricula to students across all year groups.
- Deliver high-quality lessons that emphasize experimental design, scientific writing, and independent inquiry.
- Set and mark assessments in line with school policies and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Develop and share innovative digital teaching resources with the department.
- Support students through scholarship and entrance examinations, and provide additional teaching as needed.
- Write detailed pupil reports and provide constructive feedback to support academic growth.
- Engage with parents during scheduled events and as required to discuss student progress.
- Act as a tutor to a group of pupils in a boarding house, supporting their pastoral and academic well-being.
- Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme, including societies such as the Medic Society and Natural History Society.
- Be available to cover for absences and invigilate exams as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- An excellent Honours degree in a relevant Biology discipline.
- Proven ability to teach and communicate complex scientific concepts to high-ability students.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to balance teaching and pastoral duties.
Preferred
- Experience with Edexcel IGCSE and A-level Biology curricula.
- Experience in a boarding school or similar educational environment.
- Involvement in extra-curricular activities related to science or education.
- Experience with pastoral care and student support in a school setting.
