The Opportunity:

As a Business Manager, you will provide strategic leadership across finance, estates, HR, and support services, playing a key role in driving operational excellence and long-term sustainability. This is a senior leadership position within a high-performing and forward-thinking institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of finance, estates, HR, compliance, IT, and support services.
  • Provide strategic leadership and ensure the delivery of operational excellence across the school.
  • Support capital planning and identify opportunities to enhance commercial income and long-term sustainability.
  • Strengthen cross-school communication and collaboration with senior leadership and operational managers.
  • Line-manage key department heads and ensure alignment with the school’s strategic goals and values.
  • Work closely with the Head and Group Bursar to deliver on financial and operational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and safety standards.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that support the school’s mission and vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an educational institution.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and commercial acumen.
  • Experience in managing large teams and multiple departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic leadership and drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, health and safety, and HR best practices.

Preferred

  • Experience in a co-educational or independent school setting.
  • Knowledge of capital planning and financial management in the education sector.
  • Experience with marketing, admissions, and external relations.
  • Familiarity with elite sports provision and co-curricular activities.
  • Experience in managing international students and a diverse community.
