The Opportunity:
As a Careers and Universities Counsellor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding students from Years 7-13 through their educational and career journeys. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing personalized support, helping students explore their potential, and preparing them for future success in higher education and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1-to-1 career guidance and advice to students from Years 7-13, ensuring they make informed decisions about their future.
- Conduct individual careers meetings to help students recognize their strengths and potential.
- Support the careers programme by using tools such as Unifrog to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Facilitate parent understanding of careers and education pathways through attendance at parent events.
- Offer information, advice, and guidance to students applying to universities both locally and internationally.
- Organize higher education events, including career expos and presentations, and liaise with universities and organizations.
- Guide students in writing application essays, personal statements, and preparing for interviews.
- Process student applications on the Common Application (US) and UCAS (UK) systems.
- Support students in applying to top universities such as Oxbridge and Ivy League institutions.
- Administer special university entrance exams and coordinate references and recommendation letters.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree-level qualification in Counselling or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Careers and Universities Counsellor.
- Strong knowledge of university admission processes in the US, UK, Canada, Middle East, and internationally.
- Extensive experience with UCAS and university entry requirements.
Preferred
- Experience with international student admissions, visa processes, and funding options.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for student support.
- Experience in administering aptitude tests and creating personalized action plans for students.
