The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Caretaker and Security Officer to ensure the safety and well-being of the school community during out-of-hours periods. This role is vital in maintaining a secure, clean, and welcoming environment across the school’s 16-acre site. The successful candidate will play a key part in the school’s operations, working closely with the Estates Bursar and other teams to support the school’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety of pupils and staff during out-of-hours periods, from the end of the school day.
Secure and alarm school buildings from 4:00 PM onwards.
Respond to fire emergencies outside of the school day.
Empty and manage litter and recycling bins across the site.
Maintain cleanliness and restock washrooms with consumables daily.
Assist with event setup, furniture movement, and porterage duties.
Perform general maintenance and grounds-related tasks, including leaf clearing in autumn.
Support open mornings, Founders Day, and other school events.
Undertake additional duties as required by the Estates Bursar during school holidays.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

Full, clean driving licence.
Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency situations.
Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role.
Commitment to safeguarding and child protection standards.

Preferred

Experience with health and safety training.
Basic knowledge of maintenance, decorating, plumbing, and carpentry.
Experience in a school or similar environment.
