The Opportunity:

As a Catering Manager, you will lead the delivery of a high-quality, efficient, and customer-focused catering service. You will ensure that meals are nutritious, meet health regulations, and support a positive learning environment. This role is central to maintaining the school’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of student life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a quality, cost-effective catering service in line with service level agreements, health regulations, and Trust policies.
  • Ensure pre-planned menus meet nutritional standards and customer expectations.
  • Manage financial tasks, including cash reconciliation, ordering, and completing returns according to Trust procedures.
  • Line-manage the catering team, providing training, performance management, and payroll support.
  • Deliver a courteous, responsive, and inclusive catering service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, COSHH, and health and safety regulations.
  • Contribute to service improvements by trialing new menu ideas and gathering feedback.
  • Support the Trust’s values and safeguarding responsibilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Catering qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking (or working towards it), plus a Foundation Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Experience managing a high-volume catering service with a focus on quality, service, and detail.
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to lead and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills for accurate administration and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of food safety, health and safety, and allergen regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to converse confidently in spoken English.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and professional development.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
  • Experience in implementing service improvements and new initiatives.
