The Opportunity:
As a Catering Manager, you will play a key role in delivering nutritious and appealing meals that support the health and wellbeing of students. You will lead a small team and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture that prioritizes student and staff wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the catering provision, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation
- Plan and prepare menus that meet dietary needs, nutritional requirements, and budget constraints
- Supervise and support kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations
- Manage stock, monitor portion control, and maintain efficient kitchen operations
- Maintain clean, hygienic, and well-presented kitchen and dining areas
- Support the school’s wellbeing initiatives and promote healthy eating among students
- Respond to urgent or last-minute service requirements with flexibility and professionalism
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in catering within an educational or similar setting
- Experience in menu planning with a focus on nutrition and budget management
- Management experience in a catering environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience in a school or special educational needs setting
- Familiarity with COSHH regulations and kitchen management systems
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £19,000 - £21,000 per annum
- 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) trial after successful probation
