The Opportunity:

As a Chemistry Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education to students from KS3 through to A-level. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative department that values innovation and professional growth, while contributing to science-themed enrichment programmes that inspire students beyond the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective Chemistry lessons to students across KS3 and A-level.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues to develop and share teaching resources, reducing workload and improving practice.
  • Contribute to science-themed enrichment activities and programmes.
  • Support students in achieving academic excellence and developing a passion for the subject.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and research initiatives.
  • Work closely with the technician and other staff to ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students where appropriate.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate innovative teaching methods.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in Chemistry or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching Chemistry at KS3 and A-level.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and character education.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with enrichment programmes or extracurricular science activities.
  • Experience in professional development or research in education.
  • Familiarity with the University of Birmingham’s resources and partnerships.
  • Experience with early career teacher support or mentoring.
