The Opportunity:

A Chemistry Teacher (Maternity Cover) is needed to inspire and educate students at KS3, KS4, and KS5. This role offers the chance to contribute to a dynamic Science Department and support the school’s mission of fostering curiosity and academic achievement in a progressive and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Science at KS3 and Chemistry at KS4 and KS5, with the ability to also teach Biology at KS4.
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that promote student progress and enjoyment of learning.
  • Collaborate with the Science Department to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies.
  • Use modern, well-equipped laboratories and technology to enhance student learning.
  • Support students’ academic and personal development through effective communication and pastoral care.
  • Participate in department meetings, staff development, and school events.
  • Reflect on and continuously improve teaching practice through professional development and feedback.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Science education at KS3 and Chemistry at KS4 and KS5.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to student progress and enjoyment of learning.
  • Willingness to undergo full safeguarding and DBS checks.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Biology at KS4.
  • Familiarity with Edexcel GCSE and AQA A Level Chemistry curricula.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and use of technology in the classroom.
  • Background in a school with a similar progressive and supportive ethos.
