The Opportunity:

As Child Development Subject Leader, you will lead curriculum development, mentor colleagues, and inspire students. This is a key role in shaping a new and exciting direction for child development across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of an engaging and inclusive curriculum
  • Foster a vibrant and creative learning culture within the school
  • Support and mentor colleagues to deliver outstanding teaching
  • Monitor and manage student progress and attainment data
  • Implement intervention strategies to ensure students meet expected levels of progress
  • Ensure effective schemes of work are in place for all courses
  • Enforce school curriculum policies for assessment, target setting, and reporting
  • Promote progression and continuity across key stages

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A good degree in child development or a related subject
  • Proven experience of teaching child development in a secondary school
  • Ability to collaborate with external partners and mentor colleagues
  • Strong academic background and commitment to student development

Preferred

  • Experience with new teaching and learning developments
  • Demonstrated success in achieving strong examination outcomes
  • Interest in pastoral and extra-curricular contributions
  • Experience in leading and managing subject departments
