The Opportunity:

As a Choral Director, you will lead a dynamic and established choral programme that is central to the school's identity. This is a unique opportunity to shape and enhance a high-performing choral culture, ensuring it remains inclusive, engaging and of the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and develop the Senior Choir and Chamber Choir.
  • Maintain high artistic standards across all choral activity.
  • Plan and lead rehearsals for principal choirs with a focus on musical excellence.
  • Support liturgical and school events with choral music.
  • Prepare choirs for performances, concerts and external engagements.
  • Collaborate with Visiting Music Teachers to support vocal development.
  • Ensure progression pathways for singers of all abilities.
  • Promote an inclusive and inspiring choral culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience directing high-quality choral ensembles.
  • Strong musical leadership and rehearsal technique.
  • Excellent knowledge of choral repertoire.
  • Ability to inspire singers of varying abilities.
  • Commitment to high standards within an inclusive ethos.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a busy Music Department.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and working with young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school, cathedral, collegiate or Oxbridge choral environment.
  • Experience preparing choirs for liturgical services.
  • Experience supporting choral scholarship or conservatoire pathways.
  • Background as a choral scholar, cathedral musician or equivalent.
  • Keyboard or organ proficiency.
  • Experience working with adolescent voices.
