Summary:

The Opportunity:

As a College Governor or Co-opted Member, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction and governance of a leading educational institution. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of young people and the future of sixth form education in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the school in developing and implementing its strategic vision and goals.
  • Contribute to the review and evaluation of the school’s performance and outcomes.
  • Attend and participate in meetings of the Governing Body or relevant committees.
  • Engage with the school community, including students, staff, and parents.
  • Promote the school’s mission and values within the local area.
  • Ensure the school complies with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise on matters related to student welfare, curriculum development, and resource allocation.
  • Support the school in its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A commitment to sixth form education and the development of young people.
  • A willingness to contribute time and energy to the role of a Governor or Co-opted Member.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others and take part in decision-making processes.

Preferred

  • Experience in education, governance, or community leadership.
  • Knowledge of educational policy and best practices.
  • Experience in strategic planning or management.
  • An understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • A background in working with young people or in a voluntary capacity.
