The Opportunity:
As a College Governor or Co-opted Member, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction and governance of a leading educational institution. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of young people and the future of sixth form education in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the school in developing and implementing its strategic vision and goals.
- Contribute to the review and evaluation of the school’s performance and outcomes.
- Attend and participate in meetings of the Governing Body or relevant committees.
- Engage with the school community, including students, staff, and parents.
- Promote the school’s mission and values within the local area.
- Ensure the school complies with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Advise on matters related to student welfare, curriculum development, and resource allocation.
- Support the school in its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A commitment to sixth form education and the development of young people.
- A willingness to contribute time and energy to the role of a Governor or Co-opted Member.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- The ability to work collaboratively with others and take part in decision-making processes.
Preferred
- Experience in education, governance, or community leadership.
- Knowledge of educational policy and best practices.
- Experience in strategic planning or management.
- An understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- A background in working with young people or in a voluntary capacity.
