The Opportunity:
We are seeking a qualified Commercial Plumber and Heating Engineer to maintain and improve the school’s complex plumbing and heating systems. The role is vital to ensuring the efficient operation of the estate and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake routine servicing, statutory inspections, and reactive repairs on gas boilers, plant rooms, and ancillary equipment.
- Manage water distribution, heating loops, and hot water storage systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain and monitor hot and cold water services to prevent stagnation and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Liaise with and supervise external contractors during major plant overhauls or other on-site work.
- Participate in an on-call emergency response rota to address critical heating or plumbing failures on campus.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Valid Gas Safe qualifications for commercial and domestic work, including COCN1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1/1A, CCN1, and CENWAT.
- HWSS (G3 Unvented Hot Water Systems) certification.
Preferred
- Experience working in historic or listed buildings.
- Experience in an educational environment, preferably a boarding school.
- Basic electrical competence for safe isolation and boiler control fault-finding.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary between £40,000 and £45,000.
